Back pain 101: CBS News almost got it right

Back pain 101: CBS News almost got it right

Cannone, Jesse

The mainstream media is all too often health reporting dead wrong. That's why I was pleasant pleasure when I ran across this episode of CBS Early Show News HealthWatch on back pain from this this year.

In Back Pain 101: CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton separate fact from fiction, and does a great job bringing up some of the common myths about back pain and to expose them. There's a lot, I agree with ... but there is also have at least one important point that Dr. Ashton.

Watch the short video segment further than here below to find out what I agree with ... and what Dr. Ashton miss reading.

Myth # 1: Get only overweight people with Back Pain

Keep it once upon a time ... like Dr. Ashton total, with an indication of the National Institute of arthritis, 80% of the Blue Jays will experience back pain at some point in their lives (if not several times) ... and it most certainly does not discriminate on the basis of size, gender, age, and so on.

Yes, extra weight on your back strain injury can post. But can be too long in a Chair of the desk at work every day ... ..."bad posture and movement strain injury due to improper ... and many other risk factors.

Myth # 2: is the best medical option is Back Surgery

Dr. Ashton total if you look in the back pain and go to your first doctor who have surgery you total, get a second opinion. I'm going to be a step further ... run, not walk, a person skilled in the art dealer who will not be so quick to grab the scalpel.

Ever heard of failed Back Surgery syndrome? It is the only category of houses with an error sat high guarantees its own name for the poor results. Operation always, always, always the last resort. Please bear in mind that the big "back pain usually never need back surgery.

Dr. Ashton on the fact that "studies have shown" 90% of the back pain patients with no treatment, within 3 months. "I believe that they otherwise stated that even those with chronic back pain back surgery after trying to other, less invasive treatment only should consider.

Bear in mind that someone wants to just go with back pain for up to 3 months ... She went on to suggest different alternatives to surgery was, some of which I can fully support including acupuncture, yoga, and as far as I am the most important, finding the cause of your back pain.

Myth # 3: where to stay In Bed to pain Goes Away

Dr. Ashton said one or two days of bed rest may be "useful for acute pain in the back, but real healing bed rest shouldn 't require more than that. Stay in bed only makes your muscles get weak.

I agree that only a short rest period will be useful. In fact, can stay in bed too long would be counter-productive to the restoration of acute low back pain. According to a number of studies, can increase your time in bed, in fact, your pain and, where appropriate, contribute more ... this chronic back pain.

Myth # 4: exercise is bad for your back

One of the best things you can do for your back is staying in shape with a good exercise.Like Dr. strengthening Ashton total, "the best way for the treatment of back pain is not to get on all", from your core.

Even after you lower back pain, exercise is an important part of the treatment of it. For example, in our losses the Back Pain System, specific muscular imbalances are at the root of nearly all cases of back pain have been identified and corrected by means of targeted stretching and exercises.

Dr. Ashton also shares some other great tips for the prevention of back pain:

Always stretch prior shoesSleep exercisingWear comfortable on your side (as opposed to on your stomach) practice good lifting

So what Dr. Ashton Miss?

If you go back to the point about 1: 16 in the video, you will hear Dr. Ashton mention again that 90% of the back pain patients get the better within 3 months, even without treatment.

But what you won't hear anyway, unless the underlying cause of back pain is treated, you can have as many "as a 90% chance of that pain in the back.

To be honest, Dr. Ashton now had a long way to go in less than 4 minutes. And she did her credit entry to find the cause of the pain as an alternative to the operation at any given moment. but that really should be stressed. because if you really want to get rid of the pain in the back and keep coming back, you must correct the problem that it is in the first place.

You can see, except for in the case of trauma, we do not just throw our suddenly "back"-it's a process that ultimately reached a turning point. it is only at the point of the pain that we, as a rule, be aware that there is still a problem.

SAT: how to find and correct the underlying problem? this answer may be taking a book to explain. Fortunately, I've already written ... and I would like to give you a free copy. get your own free copy of the 7-day Back Pain Cure today.
